Setting and Using Tabs

With left-aligned tabs, the default in most programs, your text appears immediately to the right of where you set the tab. As you can see in this illustration, with left-aligned tabs mixed lists of numbers can visually appear to be jumbled, disorderly even though the first characters are all lined up.
