Spot Color Printing Options

Spot Color

Publisher offers 4 choices including spot color

You can select up to 2 spot colors. Any other colors in your publication will be converted to shades of gray. You cannot use Publisher's "color schemes" with the Spot color option. Once you choose your spot color(s) the fill color palette changes to show only those colors and their tints, plus black, white, and grays.

Next you will be asked to:

  • Select overprinting options (the options tab below your spot color selection).

  • Select a printer driver (for the device on which you will print your document).

  • Choose paper size (Publisher can automatically select the "extra" paper size -- slightly larger than the final print size). Do not select the "extra" paper size if you are printing to paper that is the exact size of your publication.

  • Show printer marks (crop marks, etc.). Do not select this option if not printing to "extra" size paper.

Note: Publisher does not support the use of more than two spot colors with the PostScript option. Publisher will default to overprinting black objects. For more on overprinting, knock-out, and trapping see the Publisher HELP files.
