Definition: In typography, black is a heavy typeface with heavier and thicker strokes than found in normal bold type. Black is a bolder bold than boldface type.

Black type may be created with or without regular, bold, italic, and other versions of the same basic style. Any thick, heavy typeface may be referred to as "black."
