This tutorial is based on the Draw a Christmas Tree Step-by-Step tutorial from About.com Drawing/Sketching Guide Helen South.
Drawing freehand, even in a paint program, will give different results each time. Compare Helen's finished and colored drawing to mine, above. I have a few spots that didn't get completely filled with color. I could correct that by zooming in close and coloring in those stray spots if I wanted.
Now that you've drawn and colored your Christmas tree, what do you do with it? Turn it into a greeting card. Use it in a newsletter. Decorate your Web page. Save it in a suitable format for your intended use such as GIF, PNG, JPG, or TIF. Because this is a bitmap image, you'll have best results if you use it at the size at which it was drawn -- or smaller. Enlarging the image too much will probably result in unattractive, jagged edges.
How to Make a Greeting Card describes the basic steps to creating any kind of greeting card.
