Velox

By Jacci Howard Bear, About.com

Definition: Registered by Kodak, the term Velox is frequently (and erroneously) used generically to describe a type of prepress proof or camera-ready artwork. Velox is a high contrast black and white paper used for print or proof purposes. When used generically Velox commonly refers to a positive photographic print made from a screen negative printed from a high-resolution imagesetter onto any resin coated paper.
Pronunciation: vee-locks
Also Known As: RC Paper | contact print | paper proof | B&W photographic proof
Common Misspellings: velox (should be capitalized and not used generically)
Examples: A Velox is a good choice for one color jobs and gives a better look at halftone images than a blueline will. A Velox can be used to produce B&W camera-ready artwork.
