Flip Clip Art for a Simple Modification

An otherwise perfect image that is simply facing the wrong direction may need nothing more than a flip - reversing its direction. This is easy to do in any graphics software program. Flipping can be done on both bitmap and vector images. Some image browsers also have basic flipping capabilities.

Watch out for text elements in an image. When flipped it becomes an unreadable mirror image. There may be other tell-tell signs that an image has been flipped such as wedding bands moving from the left to the right hand or familiar skylines suddenly having buildings rearranged.

Don't forget that you can flip images vertically as well as horizontally. A upward pointing arrow is easily flipped to point downward.
