How To Change Font Sample Text in Adobe Type Manager For Windows

By , About.com Guide

Using PostScript Type 1 fonts with Windows 3.1/Me/98/95/NT requires using Adobe Type Manager (ATM). With Adobe Type Manager you can view and print a sample of a font in various sizes. You can also change the default text string that ATM uses to display font sample text.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 1-5 minutes or less to change the sample text in ATM

Here's How:

  1. Open Adobe Type Manager.
It will probably be under Start > Programs > Adobe.
  2. Go to Settings.
Select the Settings tab in Adobe Type Manager.
  3. Go to Advanced Settings.
Select the Advanced button in Adobe Type Manager.
  4. Change Text.
Under the Sample Text section change the default string under Sample Sheets from 'Just keep examining every low bid quoted for zinc etchings' to a font sample text string of your choice.
  5. Save Your New Sample Text.
Click OK to save your changes to the font sample text string.

Tips:

  1. Some example text strings you might try:
    • The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
    • Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.
    • Amazingly dumb, quixotic font choices keep jumping out everywhere.
    • Try some of these desktop publishing pangrams as sample text.

  2. Try to use a variety of upper and lower case letters in your font sample text in order to get a better idea how the font looks in use.
