Lesson 7: Create a Greeting Card Class

These extra assignments combine everything we've covered so far about page setup, graphics selection and editing, type selection, and page layout. Look at how changes in one or more of these areas makes a design different, sometimes better.

The first extra focuses on the greeting card we've been creating throughout these lessons while the second uses other greeting cards to demonstrate what we learned so far in this class. The third extra shows before and after versions of some other cards with explanations of why the makeover works better than the original.

1. View the Extra #1 illustration (link). How might you have arranged Grandma Baker's 3Rs "Back to School" greeting card differently (other than choosing all new graphics)?

2. View the Extra #2 illustration (link).Can you identify some of the "lessons" (not just this one) we've had so far as exhibited in these examples (graphics editing and font selection, specifically)?

3. The next three supplemental pages to this lesson are makeovers of three typical greeting cards (front pages only). The makeovers involve most of the lessons we've covered so far -- choosing/editing graphics, choosing type, arranging text and graphics. The makeovers are only one possible improvement that can be made. What else might you change -- or leave the same?
