How much of a role do color meanings play in your graphic design color choices? Do you worry about the negative connotations of some colors? Do you consider the physical and cultural reactions to specific colors when planning a brochure or a Web site or a logo?
Does color symbolism matter in graphic design or is just something fun to read but with no real significance in your day-to-day color decisions?

- Colours, like any other design element, cannot be evaluated on their own. It's like asking if a line that is 2 pt thick is better than a line that is 5 pt thick. It depends on the design. It's exactly the same thing with colours. Yes, sometimes you will shun blue because it's a corporate colour. Other times you will use it in non-corporate designs because it fits. Because it's cooling. Or because [enter reason here]. Also the symbolism of a colour changes with design. Alas this is a question one can't answer with a simple yes or no.

color is very important
- Color symbolism can be very important to graphic design, and if you choose badly you could be affecting your audience without your even knowing it. There are so many choices these days that not paying serious attention to every element of design is a big mistake.

Complementary?
- Complementary colors are opopsite each other on the color wheel not contrasting colors. Complementary colors are not right next to each other on the color wheel that is part of the harmonious colors which are 3 color consecutively on the color wheel.

Maybe
- Hmm... It might be an idea to read 'The Grey Book' I suppose, after all it's good to train yourself to think without colour, but ultimately colour can be vital. Just try selling something using the colour Orange in parts of Ireland; or something using Red, White and Black in Holland. It's our job to be aware of public sensibilities. Some colour symbolisms are all too real.

Gray
- It's true gray is seen as a moody color but i think it's the only true color cuz it's not a color. Think about it. Colors are just chemicals located in a compound that reflect off of water molcules so if you take one of these factors away all you would get is Gray. Therefore everything is gray. Oh and gray has no opposite color unless you count light gray or dark gray and i don't count it cuz it's still gray.
