Where I Work
My home office - I call it my study - is a book-lined 11- by 11-foot room. It's small enough and I have so many books that space is at a premium. A corner desk is really my only option.
How I Created This Space
To make best use of the one free corner in the room, I picked up two solid wood kitchen cabinets at a bargain outlet and mounted them solidly on the walls, cut triangular shelves out of maple plywood to fit between them, and stained the assembly in warm maple to go with the rest of the decor. At the time I had a standard home printer, and since I upgraded I thank my lucky stars I made the shelves big enough to fit the new one. And I lucked out finding CD shelves already stained to match the rest of the woodwork.
Tips and Tricks
- The rolling carriage for the computer tower isn't an original idea, but it's easy to make and leaves me more desk space.
