What Kind of Business Card I Have
Horizontal in design, it lists all pertinent contact info including website, with logo and some images.
How I Created My Business Card
Started with the appropriate layout for the card, I came up with a general list of things I wanted to include on it, while keeping it simple. Then moved on from there.
While working with Indesign, I am able to set up an 8 card template. With photoshop, I am able to create a card for printing purposes and as an e-card. The e-card is for most any type of correspondence.
I basically put a variety of images. It is just a taste of what I had done.
What I'd Do Differently
- Well, if I had to do something really different, I would create a general card to use for self promotion, then think about target audiences I am involved with or interested in.
- for example, I have a card for graphic design, and one for photography as well as a general one with just my logo.
The Software I Used and Why
Using Adobe illustrator for the text, Photoshop for images and logo and to create a jpg for an e-card and InDesign for a template to print out cards from home.
The Layout I Used and Why
Layout is simple I do not want to overload it with information. It has to be readable. It is just an introduction and contact method. If people are interested, they will inquire. That is why I also have an actual work sample, links to online work and a website.
The Fonts and/or Images I Used and Why
Simple appealing fonts that print well and are easy to read. I try to stay at at least 12 point font size with no lower then 9 or 10.
Reason is simple, the card must be readable, visually appealing and visually readable. figure/ground relationships (also known as positive/negative space)
The Paper and Printing Method I Used and Why
While a good stock of paper is the best, as in what a local printer uses, due to costs, I use an appropriate photo paper with a god inkjet photosmart printer.
