My Review

I got OpenOffice as a free alternative to Word and Excel, but I found it very hard to use on my Mac. I think the version I got just wasn't compatible with Aqua even though they said that it was.

Like other word processing files, I don't find this application to be great for DTP. It doesn't support all the features (like pair kerning and adjusting leading in minute increments) that I appreciate in more advanced DTP software.

But I suppose if all you can afford is free, and you don't want to try to learn a DTP program, at least OpenOffice gives you a spreadsheet and presentation software program in the same package.

But, since I learned DTP on FrameMaker, I can't really recommend a word processing program for the job.
