Desktop publishing often involves writing material for yourself or others as well as self-editing, editing, and proofreading. It's important that anyone doing desktop publishing professionally learn basic grammar, writing, copywriting, and how to edit and proofread. Depending on your employer or clients or personal projects, technical writing may also be a needed skill.
