Place the poster board in the box so that it covers the inside back of the box and bottom. The curve helps to give that seamless look to your shots. I didn't tape the poster board in place so that it's easy to remove it.

White poster board reflects more light. Black poster board provides less reflected light. Use the background that gives the best results for whatever you are photographing. Experiment.
