Definition: Alignment of text where the lines of text are allowed to end naturally, leaving varying amounts of white space at the end of lines rather than forcing it to line up flush with the margin is known as ragged. Ragged right is the most common ragged alignment. Ragged left would be right-aligned text where the lines (left margin) start in differing positions.

Sometimes hyphenation is used to break up words at the end of lines in order to create a less ragged edge (but still not flush-aligned or fully-justified).

Also Known As: non-justified | flush-left (for ragged right) | flush-right (for ragged left)
