Paper made from cotton fiber or chemical wood pulps or mixtures which is often treated with embossing and watermarking is papeterie paper. The term derives from the French papetier, a papermaker or paper dealer.
Papeterie paper stock has high bulk but folds well. It has special treatments to accept printing and writing inks equally well. Papeterie paper is typically used for greeting cards and sometimes stationery.
Papeterie also refers to a type of box used to hold stationery (made of papeterie paper, perhaps?) and related writing materials.
