Definition: A type of proof used to verify that all the pages are printing in the proper order is known as an imposition proof.

All the proofs are printed and attached back-to-back as necessary (to create duplex pages) then folded to see that the pages then all fall into the correct order for the final publication. This verifies that the imposition is correct before printing.

An imposition proof is for checking page position and general layout only. Imposition proofs were traditionally done as bluelines but other types, such as digital color inkjet proofs, may be used.

Also Known As: paper proofs | position only proofs
