Definition: There are two primary types of graphics software and one of those is an image editor. An image editor deals primarily with bitmap images such as photos and other bitmap images including GIF, PNG, and TIFF formats.
The main players for professional image editing are:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Corel Photo-Paint (part of the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite)
- The GIMP (free software)
