- If you are able you could even create three or more separate portfolios for different uses. If not, try out all the different methods before settling on the best one for your needs.
- If you have your portfolio case, place the samples in the actual case. Try different arrangements to find the layout that works best for the material you have. If you don't have a case yet, use sheets of paper. Try out different sizes based on the sizes of portfolio cases you are considering.
- Apply the principles of design to your portfolio pages. Create balanced pages that utilize consistency in alignment, contrast, and white space. Use proximity -- grouping items that go together.
Once your portfolio is assembled, you're now ready to put it to good use. In Lesson 6 we'll discuss how and when to present your portfolio. Role-playing with a friend may also help you discover new and better ways to organize your portfolio contents.
