Digital Ink-based Printing Processes

Dye-Sublimation

The dyes are embedded in film and the print head vaporizes it into drops that then solidify on special paper.

Inkjet

Solid Ink

Heat melts the wax-like sticks of ink onto the page.

Thermal Autochrome

Light-sensitive paper reveals the color in this type of printing.

Thermal Wax

A wax-coated ribbon, heated pins put vibrant color on special paper or transparencies.
