Makeover Project - Business Brochure

Too plain, too simple, too typical...

Too plain, too simple, too typical...

Project Type:
Tri-fold Brochure
Purpose:
To inform current clients about our marketing workshop series and to include in a corporate package when approaching new clients. Will be distributed during face-to-face meetings.

New information added 2009: Other distribution methods may be considered (such as direct mailing / displays). Creating a brochure that may be used as a self-mailer is an option but not a requirement.

Original:
Actual brochure that never made it to print because there was something just not right about it. The look was too plain, too simple, too typical, for someone who says they're in marketing to be handing out.
Makeover Parameters:
  1. Keep the same size (trifold 8.5 x 11 inches)
  2. Go wild with full colour or spot colour
  3. To be printed on 80lb gloss stock.
  4. Image must be able to be transferred to other marketing materials (advertising, corporate package cover, info sheets, course outlines, etc.) to keep consistant look.
  5. Logo stays the same.
New information added 2009: See the comments (especially from Sheryl L.) at the end of this redesign challenge blog concerning putting the focus on the workshops offered in this brochure. A certain amount of editing is allowed. Assume, for the purposes of this makeover, that any editing you do is approved by the client but keep it simple. Don't rewrite the brochure copy completely.
Target clients are small to medium sized businesses who do their own marketing, advertising layout and design.

Community info:

  1. Aging population with severe youth outmigration
  2. Main industry is underground mining
  3. Latest local government push is toward increasing tourism (big on the eco-tourism front...lots of clean lakes, good hunting, fishing, camping)
  4. Strong multicultural mix (mainly European)

The biggest thing we want to have this brochure say is hey, we live what we preach.

Resources:

Although based on an actual brochure, fictional names and addresses have been substituted in the resource materials.

Your Redesign:
Posting your redesign to solicit critiques is optional. Please do not post your redesign if you are not willing to accept criticism, suggestions, and questioning of your choices.
