Project Type: Business Card
Purpose: This very small organic skincare products company wants to freshen up their business card design with an eye toward adapting the layout for other print materials.(This profile, although based in part on an actual project, uses a ficticious name, logo, and other details.)
Original: The company had sheets of business cards printed up with the logo and company name which they then ran through an in-house laser printer to personalize as needed. They are reaching a point where they'll need to print new shells and have decided it's time for a change. The company name on the current cards is rendered in Staccatto222 BT; however the script version of the name is not used on other company materials. The preprinted shells also do double-duty as product tags.
Makeover Parameters: Create a standard 3.5 x 2 inch business card design (horizontal or vertical orientation) that incorporates the company logo. As with the original, they plan to have a large quantity of business card shells printed which they can then personalize as needed and use as product tags. They have a central location in the company for printing the personalized business cards so that they can control the use of fonts and the layout.
Create both a design for the shell that will be professionally printed (no thermography) using the company logo (PMS 3268) as well as a template layout and fonts to use for the personalized cards. They are willing to acquire the necessary fonts. The company name, address, and phone number should be pre-printed. The name, title, and email address will be added in-house.
The logo is the only consistent design element among all the company's other print materials. They hope to adapt the layout developed for their new business card design for use in other materials (stationery, invoices, etc.) over time. On the current cards the script name is in PMS 587 but they aren't opposed to dropping that color or using another apppropriate color alongside the PMS 3268 of their logo.
The company has a heavy duty paper cutter they use for cutting cards which they normally have printed on a fairly heavy slightly off-white, textured stock. You may choose a colored paper for your design if you wish.
