Over 2000 font combinations are literally at your fingertips with this simple iPhone application. The Font Combinations iPhone app uses 45 fonts popular with graphic designers and lets you see how each one looks paired with one of the others in a headline or as body text. Currently available for $1.99 from the Apple Apps Store or iTunes. (Note: You must have version 3.1.3 of the iPhone software to install this app)

Lorem Ipsum

The app uses the Lorem ipsum placeholder text to display the fonts. There's a headline (2 lines of text) and a paragraph of body text.

Swipe to Change Fonts

Fonts are displayed alphabetically starting with the sans serif font Akidenz Grotesk Bold for the headline and Akidenz Grotesk for the body text. The name of each font is displayed unobtrusively in small text above each section. Simply swipe the headline or the body text to change the headline or the body text to the next font in line.

The app is extremely simple to use. If you have a few minutes to kill while out around town you can use it to explore a variety of font combinations to get ideas for current and future projects.

Tip: As you find font combinations that you like and might potentially want to use, save a screenshot to your phone.

A simple, handy app I hope that there are plans to perhaps expand it in the future. In addition to swipe, swipe, swiping your way through a long list of fonts it would be nice if there were also an option to choose from a separate list of sans serif and serif fonts and then have them displayed. An option to change the displayed font size would also be useful addition. However, as is, this is a useful app to help take a little of the stress out of mixing and matching fonts.
