Place an Image With Embedded Path in Your Layout

Image with path off and path on

I didn't spend a lot of time finetuning the clipping path for the examples used here so the edges may appear somewhat irregular.

Once you create an image with an embedded clipping path then place your image into your document you'll need to access the path information or turn on the clipping path in order to turn off the background or other portion of the image you've clipped.

The steps in this tutorial describes how to accomplish this in Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Adobe PageMaker when using EPS and TIFF images from Adobe Photoshop and Corel Photo-Paint. Each program handles images from each of these image editors slightly differently. These instructions are for pre-2004 versions of the software. The dialog boxes may have changed or the handling of embedded path information may have improved in later versions but the basics are generally the same or quite similar.
