Using Multiple Alpha Channels as Clipping Paths

Use multiple alpha channels for different effects.

Use multiple alpha channels for different effects.

As with clipping paths from embedded paths, you can fine-tune the clipping path using the options available in your page layout application. With multiple alpha channels you can use the same image in different ways in the same or multiple publications.

For example, apply different alpha channels to the same image isolating different portions. Each time you place that image in your page layout application, access different alpha channels so that each image is slightly different.

In the illustration the set of three blocks have at least 4 alpha channels used as clipping paths to remove backgrounds. One alpha channel isolates all three blocks together (top image). The other alpha channels isolate one block at a time. Three copies of the image placed with different channels turned on allows the same image to be used in different ways. (Note that this could adversely affect overall file size of your document.)
