| Business Description | I create document layouts in a high-production, short-deadline environment. I create graphics and integrate graphic and text elements. I work with internal and external clients to define requirements, and coordinate outsourced print jobs. I also design/layout web pages, creating original graphics and writing HTML (yes, this is not really considered DTP, but ... :) ). I coordinate corporate newsletter input, editing, QA, and production. I develop, format, and maintain corporate flysheets (one-page marketing summaries). I also supervise another desktop publisher. |
| Tips/Advice | Ergonomics are key -- be sure you are sitting properly! And limit the number of hours you spend at the computer ... carpal tunnel syndrome is _very_ painful! Also, don't be afraid to try out new software -- just get in there and see what it can do! I've never taken a software class, but I can use advanced features (and use them well!) in many software packages. Once you learn one thoroughly, you can transition to others fairly easily. |
