Image photographed with a Nikon CoolPix 800 digital camera. This baby blue jay lost his momma. In this pic he's sitting at the edge of an open bird cage. I managed to catch him with his mouth open in one of his not-so-melodic squawks -- blue jays aren't song birds! He eventually hopped away and was last spotted engaged in friendly banter with another jay, perhaps his mom.
