Definition: Specially treated paper (additive during the papermaking process or surface treatment) that readily reveals attempts to alter it through erasures or printing is termed safety paper. Safety paper may include a fine printed pattern on the surface. Has a 17" x 22" basic size.

Examples: Bank checks are printed on safety paper.

Also Known As: check paper

Examples: Commonly used for checks, negotiable bonds, and other security documents.

Common Misspellings: saftey, safty
