HELP!

Hi. I have to design a page with 38 photos for our
child's
yearbook. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to
incorporate
multiple photo scans... I'm scanning from mostly school
pictures.
Should I scan them as black and white (even if they're
color), scale
them, etc. before inserting them into my desktop program (MS
Publisher).
What is the best way for space, speed, clarity, etc. to do
the job
(and not killing my computer!) I plan on taking the
finished product
to a printer for a higher resolution print (I only need
one page for
the printer to copy from).
Thanks!

I think Tammy's advice is right on. You will want
to do your
photo retouching and resizing before placing in your page
layout
program.
If you are supplying an electronic Publisher file (as
opposed to a
laser print out) have you checked to be sure that your
printer can
work with an MS Publisher file? I don't think it is a
widely accepted
format yet.

Hi!
The best bet is to start with the printer...Ask at what
resolution
the photos should be scanned. Then, if the final output is
to be
grayscale, then scan them in that way. (color scans take
up a lot
more room on the hard drive than grayscale). Apply the
screen in the
photo program i.e. Photoshop. (Ask the printer about that
too). Then
use Publisher to layout the page, inserting photos that
have already
been worked up in your photo program. Are you providing
the printer
with positive proofs or disk? If you're supplying disk, be
sure to
include all of the photo files, as well as the page layout
file...If
you're only supplying a laser proof, printed from your own
printer,
then you will want to talk to the printer about that, too...
I hope this is of some help! Maybe The Guide will have
better
advice!!!
