Use Standard File Formats
Your printer may not have the same software or the same version as you

By , About.com Guide

Talk to your printer in advance to determine the file formats and platforms they can support. Ascertain the actual version number of the software in use. Deliver your electronic files in a format your printer can use.

If your desktop publishing program or platform is not one that your printer is comfortable with, it can cause delays and incur extra costs. Talk to your printer about submitting PostScript files or Adobe Acrobat PDF files for printing.
