Thermal Autochrome

From Jacci Bear's Desktop Publishing Glossary, About.com Guest

Definition: Thermal Autochrome printing uses a special light-sensitive paper with hidden layers of cyan, magenta, and yellow color. Heat in the print head activates each layer of color one at time, with the first two passes fixed in place with an ultraviolet head. Output from the thermal autochrome process is durable and photo-quality. Thermal autochrome printers are aimed primarily at digital photographers.
