Use a Spokesperson
Familiar faces speak out

By , About.com Guide

use a spokesperson

Uncle Sam speaks and we listen (or read).

Let someone else say it for you. While you might not be able to afford Bob Dole or Michael Jordan as a spokesperson, George Washington, Sir Isaac Newton, and even Uncle Sam work for free. Use familiar historical (even fictional) characters to make a statement. Be careful of copyright issues when using cartoon characters or images of people without permission.

In the sidebar illustration, Uncle Sam might not entice us all to eat more fruit, but if the face is familiar, your message is more likely to be read. Play around with speech balloons too. They can add a fun, attention-grabbing element to your design as well.
