Printing & Finishing Phase of Desktop Publishing

How a desktop published document is created

By Jacci Howard Bear, About.com

After the document is designed and the file prepared for printing, the last step in desktop publishing is the actual printing, along with any finishing touches required. The final document may be printed to a desktop printer or it may be sent out for commercial printing and processing.

Do the following printing tasks, as required. Where available, find corresponding tutorials, exercises, or resources for further study. Items identified with an * are not yet in lesson/tutorial format but do provide informational resources on the subject.

  1. Printing

  2. Finishing (Varnish, Trim, Fold...)

  3. Distribution of Finished Document

Once you've mastered the tasks involved in basic desktop publishing, you're ready to move on to learning a new level of tasks or fine-tuning the various tasks you've learned so far to create even more polished and professional desktop publishing documents.
