File Preparation Phase of Desktop Publishing

How a desktop published document is created

After the document looks the way the desktop publisher wants it to look, it's time to make sure that it will print the way it is supposed to print. The file preparation phase is also known as the prepress phase. File preparation involves proofing the text and layout and verifying that everything needed to print the file is in the proper format.

The final step in desktop publishing is printing. Whether printing to a desktop printer or having commercially printed, the file isn't complete until the finishing touches are added.
