Word Processing is Not Desktop Publishing

By , About.com Guide   April 8, 2009

Follow me on:

If you want to use Word to create brochures or business cards on your own desktop printer, that's your business I s'pose. But it's not desktop publishing. Overheard on Twitter recently (from a student),
Desktop Publishing is starting to become a bore. We're doing stuff on MS Word now...
Oh, one can only hope that he was bored by a segment on ways to import Word text into page layout software. Doubtful though. They probably are teaching Word as a desktop publishing program.

I'm curious. Are you now or have you ever taken a class where they taught you to use Microsoft Word (or any word processing package) for desktop publishing? Comment below and tell us about it.
