Typeface Chemistry

Follow me on:

Here's a geeky cool way to look at typefaces that I found making the blog rounds recently.

Snip of Periodic Table of Elements by Squidspot
Snip of Image created by designers at Squidspot

The Periodic Table of Typefaces by Squidspot groups typefaces by similarity/classification and arranges the table more or less by popularity. A close look at each record in the table shows you a snapshot of the typeface -- its classiification, designer, year it made its debut. While it might not be the most useful type tool out there, I think I'll be printing up the full-size image (find it here: Squidspot Period Table of Typefaces Large jpg) and putting it on the wall. It just looks nifty.

Found via Jennifer's Web Design Blog and several others.
