Can You Learn Design...

...or do you have to be born with the creative gene? That's the question posed in this forum poll.

Among the "born with it" replies:

"An innate sense of space, proportion, font and active white space seems to be essential. The techniques are learned, without a doubt, but the use of all the elements of design put the "born with" at the top of the list - conceptional, elegant, effective, compelling, connective." And the "learn it" replies include:

"I just keep looking at what I used to do and at what I do now. I learned so much about how to think of concepts and so on, and still I know I can learn. I'd feel fairly depressed if I thought my mind cannot develop to create new concepts. I'd feel I'd have no business in design, since there's a lot I can improve." Read the full message
