Bursting the Bubble Logo

Wednesday August 15, 2007
Trevor Elliott wants to kill the speech bubble logo.

Not a good logo candidate?

He's also assembled a nice collection of bubbly logos to show us "what happens when the perfect symbol, a symbol so good that it does all the thinking for you, gets together with a sea of designers who aren’t thinking enough."

In the comments, the discussion continues as readers add links to more examples, and Trevor acknowledges that some of the logos in his list really are good logos. His point is that it's just become overdone and the madness needs to stop. Whether you agree or disgree with the individual use of the bubble, it's a fun post to read, nit-picky comments and all.

What do you think? Has the speech bubble joined the swoosh as an overused logo element? What other images have been done-to-death?

When you see ‘em all together like that…! I’ve always liked the Real logo, though, which is why I started reading. Thanks for sharing, Jacci.

Well, maybe it has been a bit overdone lately. I do like the uses in the Graphic Design Speech Bubble Gallery.
