Printing on the surface of a CD poses many challenges. The main part of the disc, the mirror band, and the hub are different surfaces that affect the color and appearance of what you print on them.
But that's not the only surface you have to consider.
Have you ever wanted to put a cool piece of artwork on a CD label only to discover that the hole in the center of the CD fell right in the middle of someone's face or it blocked the most interesting part of the image? Instead of fighting it, go with the hole. That's what these CD designs do. I like the hole in the hole and tic tac toe.
