As I mentioned previously, employers are seeking more Web experience and knowledge to go along with traditional print design skills these days. While specialization can often be the route to success, at other times you'll need to be able to "do it all" -- print and Web.

If you're well-versed in print design but need to improve your Web design skills, you can start with the basics of HTML/XHTML in an ecourse from Web Design / HTML Guide Jennifer Krynin. Although Web design has its roots in graphic design, it is not the same as print design so you'll need to learn a whole other way of working with graphics and doing layout.

When you're already a wonderful Web designer but want a piece of paper to back you up, Dori Reuscher shows you where to get beginner, intermediate, and advanced Web Design Certifications to beef up your résumé. Beyond design there are also other Internet-related certifications such as Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW).
