Best Software for Announcements, Invitations?

Wednesday July 6, 2005
Getting started in some types of specialized desktop publishing means making a choice between professional programs (and their often high cost and steep learning curve) and less robust but less expensive software. How do you know if it's time to "go for broke?"
I am starting a creative printing business designing announcements, invitations, and ceremony programs. (Mainly for weddings and showers) In the past I've only used consumer software like Print Shop, but this can not be used for profit. What is a good software that I can use? I am a small, home based business, so I am not sure if I should start out small with Microsoft Publisher / Adobe Page Maker or start out big with Quark XPress / Adobe InDesign. Help! -- customcreations
What would you recommend? I'd say go straight to InDesign if at all possible. But Publisher or PagePlus could do the job and PageMaker would be a good choice if upfront software costs are a problem.
