LCD vs. CRT Monitors

Thursday February 10, 2005
From the forum: "I was wondering which type of monitor is best for a designer. Someone told me that the "traditional" monitor (the one that looks like a TV) is best as it can be better calibrated."

Forum members share their opinions and experiences with each type. I have an LCD and love the space-savings, especially now that I'm in a closet-size office. It also swivels to portrait view which is nice when working on standard "letter size" pages. But each kind has its pros and cons.

I found this forum difficult to distil usefull information from. It’s been some time since I’ve sought out information from About, and was disappointed to find this raw dump of forum data. I was expecting to find a concise article written by the topic “Guide”, not having to sift through e-mails between users, i.e. an entire About page featuring the respons “LOL”. How is that helpful to us readers? I’m leaving the About site now, unlikely to return for a long period of time. Sorry to see this change in information tactics and handling from About.
