One of the benefits of the JPEG format for photographs is their compression which gives them a small file size without reducing the apparant quality - within limits. This used to mean that further compression, such as in a ZIP file, didn't reduce the file size. But, as Graphics Software Guide Sue Chastain reports, you can now Squeeze JPEGs up to 30% More with Stuffit Deluxe 9. But do you really want or need this? She's doubtful. Perhaps, though, if you are exchanging a large group of high resolution JPEG images online it might be worthwhile to save some bandwidth.
