Bringing Order to Chaos

Monday November 8, 2004
I often use a parking lot analogy when talking about the principle of alignment. When trying to park my car at a local store this week that analogy came to life for me. There was a mish-mash of straight-in and angled spaces, full-size and compact spaces, and in much of the lot the stripes were so faded that cars were parking every which way. Not a pretty sight and a nightmare to navigate. Don't let your layouts turn into an alignment nightmare. Browse this gallery of Visual Examples of Types of Alignment to see how consistency in alignment can improve your page layouts.
