Go for the Gold

Wednesday June 23, 2004
Recently, while doing some research on some Math lessons for my kids, I ran across numerous discussions of the Fibonacci sequence and the golden rectangle. I remembered my first exposure to the theories surrounding the golden rectangle in a book on art included in a series of children's encyclopedias we had as kids. I found it fascinating back then. Wish I still had that book.

While the math might be a bit daunting for some, the general idea behind the golden rectangle and its use in page layout and desktop publishing is worth exploring. It's something that those of us without formal education in graphic design might not have a lot of experience with. Dig into the Golden Rectangle in Page Layout. You'll probably discover that you've used the golden rectangle many times without even thinking about it.
