Picking Paper

Sunday June 20, 2004
One measure of paper is its grade. Paper is classified based on the type of pulp, treatments it receives, and how the paper will be used. Typically books use book paper, newspapers use newsprint, tags use tag paper, and catalogs use catalog paper. But it's not always so obvious because book paper is the top choice for brochures, magazines, annual reports, and some stationery as well while dictionaries and rate books both use bible paper. Use this Paper Grade - Project Chart to find the grade of paper most commonly used for a variety of print projects including business cards, certificates, letterhead, and scrapbooks.
